The ACF virtual annual conference 2021 took place on 6 and 7 October 2021.

More than 250 participants and 30 speakers joined online for two days of inspiring discussion and peer connection, chaired by our compère Kenny Imafidon.

Our theme for the conference was Together: community, identity and belonging, through which we considered the role foundations and civil society have to play in addressing the inequalities made starker and more visible by the pandemic.

This year’s conference challenged all foundations to think deeply about the role that we can play in creating a more equitable future at home and abroad and in tackling the great societal, political and environmental challenges of our time.

In an era of division and declining trust, we considered how to build a shared sense of community, locally, nationally and internationally. We examined how to bring people together to create places and spaces where everyone belongs, and how to navigate issues of identity while not losing sight of what connects us.
