Equity has become an increasingly important consideration for grant-makers seeking to ensure their funding reaches and benefits the communities they aim to support.
For trusts and foundations, this involves more than reviewing funding priorities or processes. It requires consideration of how power, participation and decision-making shape funding relationships and outcomes, and how grant-making practices can help address barriers to access and opportunity.
This interactive workshop will explore the current landscape of equitable funding practice and introduce participants to key concepts, approaches and debates shaping the sector. The session will examine a range of models that foundations are using to put equity into practice.
This session will explore how different organisations have introduced participation into their grant-making, consider the practical challenges and opportunities involved, and reflect on what participation could look like within their own context.
Through facilitated discussion, practical reflection and peer learning, participants will have the opportunity to explore how equity principles can be translated into day-to-day funding practice and identify realistic next steps for their organisation.
