DEI learning series: accountability & stakeholder engagement

Join us for an interactive session which will take a practical approach to stakeholder engagement. This session is designed for funding practitioners.

We will begin by defining accountability as a key practice in an equitable approach, and differentiating it from the practice of transparency, which is often used as a substitute for more robust models of accountability.

Together, we will explore ways in which funders can practise accountability in ways that are informed by a deep understanding of their unique role and power in the ecosystem of change they are a part of. Using tested models of accountability, you will be supported to relate and apply these to your own function and context.

From there, we will look at best practices in stakeholder engagement from an equity perspective and examine how funders can expand the possibilities for impact beyond the money they invest in organisations through an intentional use of power (such as by sharing information, relationships, infrastructure, insights etc.).

In this interactive learning session, you will:

  • Learn about key concepts and challenges related to accountability in philanthropy
  • Reflect on the unique role funders play in a wider ecosystem of change and how new models of accountability could deepen impact
  • Have an opportunity to connect with peers interested in expanding their equity practice through their engagement with stakeholders
  • Formulate actionable and pragmatic steps to apply this to your context
  • Identify allies and leverage points in your sphere of influence
