Summary
We are seeking to recruit new trustees who share our ambition of improving digital and financial literacy across the UK in the communities that need it the most. This is an exciting time for the Santander Foundation as we implement our recently defined strategic plan and look to scale our support for organisations in the years ahead. To ensure that we can deliver our strategy and begin developing the Foundation as a leading organisation within the charitable sector, we are looking to further strengthen our board of trustees.

Job Description
To support succession planning for the Foundation, we are looking to recruit one additional trustee from within Santander UK. The duties of a trustee are to: Ensure that Santander Foundation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations; Safeguard the good name and values of Santander Foundation; Ensure the financial stability of Santander Foundation; Ensure the effective and efficient administration of Santander Foundation; Ensure the proper investment of Santander Foundation's funds; and Support staff and monitor their performance. Trustees should also make full use of any specific skills, knowledge and/or experience to help the board make positive and impactful decisions. Each trustee must have: A commitment to the aims of Santander Foundation; A willingness to meet the minimum time requirement; Integrity; Strategic vision; Good, independent judgement; Financial acumen; An ability to think creatively; An ability to work effectively as a team member and make decisions for the good of Santander Foundation. In addition to the duties detailed above, we are especially keen to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience: Knowledge of, or interest in, the financial and/or digital skills sector, including that gained through relevant lived experience. Be a senior leader within the organisation who is comfortable with governance, financial management and strategic planning. Previous experience working with local communities and/or experience building relationships with external organisations Experience of being a trustee and/or knowledge of charity governance is desirable, but we are also keen to support someone in their first role as a trustee. Commitment Trustees will need to prepare for and attend a minimum of four board meetings per year. Trustees will also be expected to support the Foundation between meetings, such as taking part in strategic work, representing the Foundation at meetings, and visiting organisations we fund. Trustees should also keep informed about Santander Foundation's activities and wider issues that affect its work. We estimate the commitment to require six days per year. The appointments are expected to commence in July 2022 for a three-year term in the first instance.
