Job Description
Cloudesley's Finance Manager plays a key role in the organisation, working with colleagues, Trustees, Committee Members and a variety of external agencies to manage all aspects of the charity's finances. This is a varied and interesting position which ranges from regular financial management tasks through to reporting, budget setting and liaison with the charity's property and investment managers, as well as policy development and advising Trustees on strategic issues. The Finance Manager is part of our small permanent staff team. Staff work on a hybrid basis with part of each week in the charity's office in King's Cross. This is an interesting time to join Cloudesley as it continues to manage its finances to ensure it can support both current and future needs, implements its property strategy, and helps respond to the multiple challenges facing people, organisations and churches in the borough. As a local relational funder, we aim to add value to our grant-making by using our knowledge, sharing information, facilitating networking, learning from our grants and working with a range of partners. Cloudesley is a founder member of Islington Giving and belongs to the Association of Charitable Foundations and London Funders. We are signatories of the Funder Commitment on Climate Change, the Flexible Funders’ initiative for open and trusting grant-making and Living Wage Friendly Funders. We have Disability Confident Committed status and are also signed up to the Show the Salary campaign. We opted into the Foundation Practice Rating scheme in 2025/26 and were awarded an A grade overall (A for transparency and accountability, B for diversity). For further information about our values and our work, see www.cloudesley.org.uk. Cloudesley is committed to valuing diversity, promoting equity and equal access, and ensuring inclusion in all it does. We recognise that we need to do more but are strongly committed to combatting racism, discrimination and inequality and ensuring that we work in order to achieve this. Our decision-making is informed by the Social Model of Disability, as defined by Inclusion London. We recognise the power, resources and advantages that Cloudesley has as an independent, endowed charitable trust and strive to act responsibly and fairly in line with our stated values. We seek to develop and retain a staff team and Board that reflect the Islington community within which we work. We will identify and take positive steps to remove any barriers to participation and recruitment of people who are currently underrepresented as staff or Trustees.
