Job Description
The Mercers’ Company is a City Livery Company with a 700 year history. The Company’s core purpose is Philanthropy, and it runs three major grant making programmes (Young People & Education, Older People & Housing and Church & Communities) which aim to relieve disadvantage and enable people to lead fulfilling lives. The Company is seeking to appoint a Grants Officer to assist in delivering and developing the major grant-making programmes for the Company. Initially the focus will be on the Church & Communities and Older People & Housing grant programmes. This role will involve working closely with the Philanthropy team to assess and process grant applications, develop relationships with applicants and grantees and assist with monitoring and learning from funded work. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of the Third Sector ideally, with respect to programmes tackling disadvantage. You will have proven project management skills and experience of undertaking research, analysing complex information and writing reports. You will have an organised and methodical approach with the ability to form effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders. You will also have a keen interest in our programme areas, particularly those working with disadvantaged communities.
